Free Tree Society On-the-Go
A programme dedicated to children and youths, FTS On-the-Go provides environmental education and basic gardening skills – all in a cool truck!
FTS On-the-Go is a mobile educational awareness outreach programme created just for schools, colleges, and universities. It incorporates world class environmental and educational programmes built on conservation goals and community involvement to target school-related environmental areas of concern.
Our specially crafted educational programmes combine knowledge, resources, and hands-on models of learning specifically geared for students of different ages. These special fun-filled workshops and talks will have participants actively caring for the environment resulting in greener schools and communities!

Activities
Here are the range of activities that FTS On-the-Go has to offer for you to choose from, along with suitability for age group and student group size, to help you make a booking for an On-the-Go visit that best suits your school’s needs.
Please note that the height of the FTS On-the-Go truck is 2.6 metres. Access to a power outlet to run the fan and TV in the truck would be appreciated.
Hands-On Activities
Important note: Important note: Due to the COVID-19 situation we will limit groups to a maximum of 20 per session. To accommodate more students, simply book more sessions. The number of students will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may need to vary to ensure safety via social distancing.

Edible Garden Project A great way for students to learn about the farm-to-table connection! Depending on space and grow bed conditions, students will plant herb/vegetable/fruit trees and learn about how to care to get that perfect harvest. Composting Workshop Learn about how to turn fruit and veggie scraps into valuable compost to feed your plants! A great way to start a composting bin at the school, to kick start a no-waste movement in school, or a follow-up activity to a planting project. Wildlife Habitats Workshop A fun way to teach children about the little creatures we share our garden with – and how useful they are! Talks
All talks are available online via conferencing platforms. This is suitable for schools outside of the Klang Valley or for social distancing needs.
Students can be tasked with a suggested hands-on project following the talk.
Please note that while talks are recommended for requests involving large numbers of students, we would prefer to give talks to age-specific groups (e.g. only primary or only secondary, or class/year specific) in order to ensure that age-appropriate language and terminology be used for effective information dissemination.

Forest: Ecosystem Service Providers A presentation about Malaysian forests and their role as ecosystem service providers, the role of the community, and steps for targeted rehabilitation of urban forests.
